Shenea Brown is a NYS Certified School Psychologist working in a School District located in New York State. She was born and raised in New York and is a 1st generation child born to immigrant parents who are from the island of Jamaica. Empowering the lives of children and making them feel safe is at the heart of her work.
Building community is another passion that she decided to step out on faith and create. She believes it is important for our women to have a community where they feel safe, heard and supported. HerCollectively, LLC (created 11-15- 19) was a response to the things she was already doing within her own circle of friends. HerCollectively’s mission is to curate events that bring women of color together; forming bonds that are unbreakable so that they can embrace who they are collectively. She believes, “The world can’t be travelled alone, and that we need each other for survival and growth.” There’s no ME without COMMUNITY.”
In addition, she also has a book club membership component that is a part of Her Collectively, LLC called, the “HerBookClub”. She has been a book club organizer for the past 5 years. She has been featured and appeared on the Nov/Dec issue of the Innovative Minds Media Magazine (IMM) a D.C based publication company in 2020. She was also featured on the Aye Yo SIs Podcast, ”Building Her Collectively” in March, 2021.
She has recently teamed up with her friend, Jennifer Small of J. Small Services and owner of the “333 Lounge” located in Brooklyn, NY for a new initiative, “ 333: The Small Business Suite’ (TSBS). The Small Business Suite was born to provide solutions. Three self-driven entrepreneurs teamed up to create a platform on which entrepreneurs, and aspiring entrepreneurs could sit under one roof. The goal is a collaborative business model, where entrepreneurship is highlighted and nurtured. We have carved out a space for everyone with a special focus on Black Owned businesses on Sunday’s. We believe small businesses are a great pathway to self-sufficiency via self-determination.
